Description
This book contains a short story about how a 19 year old girl
travelled on double decker busses to twenty-five destinations to
photograph life in northern towns before being offered a place
on the MA Course in Photography at the Royal College of Art
aged just twenty.
While at the Royal College of Art she documented the East End
of London under the watchful eye of her personal tutor, the
famous photographer Bill Brandt.
Bill Brandt made Fran promise she would look after her images,
stating that they would have social significance one day.
Fran was awarded the Junior Travel Scholarship as the most
promising student and at her degree show, she was awarded the
Vogue Prize by Barney Wan, then art editor of Vogue Magazine
for her documentary photography.
