Danish Siddiqui

On the 16th of July 2021, photojournalist Danish Siddiqui was killed while on assignment in Afghanistan working for Reuters. He was embedded with the Afghan special forces when they came under attack by the Taliban. Siddiqui had covered key events across the Middle East and Asia, including the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the Hong Kong protests. He also photographed the lives of ordinary people, for instance young actors dreaming of Bollywood stardom. Siddiqui's photography lays bare the truth of what is happening in the world, making it difficult for us all to dismiss or ignore.
