Wedding Guide

Debrett's first published its Wedding Guide in 2008, followed by the Wedding Handbook in 2017. In 2025 we have launched our new Guide, which reflects the many changes in British weddings over the last ten years, from the liberalisation of laws to embrace same-sex partnerships to the opening up of a wider range of wedding venues, including outdoors locations. The new, stylishly illustrated, Guide recognises that couples can now pick and choose the elements of the traditional wedding ritual which they want to retain, enhance or discard, from announcements, ceremonies and invitations to choosing a wedding team, the wedding dress, reception planning, speeches and honeymoons. In addition, the Guide examines the perennial social dilemmas that surround the modern British wedding: from re-marriages, former partners and estranged relations to children and plus ones. It offers sensible advice when it comes to navigating these social difficulties and ensuring that couples optimise their big day and cause the minimum of offence.
