Violence and Public Memory

A global, case study approach to looking at the history of violence and how it intersects with public history and memory, giving readers a cross section view of two very important topics in history at the moment. Both public history and memory studies are becoming more and more important in the curriculum, and especially recently the history of violence has become sharply relevant, this book offers a historical perspective on the intersection between these topics. There are lots of books on memory and violence but they tend to be from a sociological and anthropological perspective - this book offers a properly historical grounding and background to the subject.
