To Hear The Skylark's Song is a wonderfully evocative memoir of growing up in a village in south Wales in the 1960s and 1970s. The village is Aberfan. This is an account of life in a Welsh mining village towards the end of its role as an industrial settlement. And, of course, amidst the inconsolable grief of a place made bereft of a generation of children when tip No.7 slid onto Pantglas school on 21 October, 1966.
