Tibetan Shamanism

This book captures the end of Tibetan shamanism. Four highly revered Tibetan shamans brought an authentic cultural healing and belief system, one that survived centuries of assault from Buddhism in Tibet, intact to Nepal during the forced exile of 1950. The author spent sixteen years with these four shamans, learning their belief system, observing and participating in their healing rituals, and introducing many dozens of students to their worldview. The result is a fascinating insight into a system that managed to survive years of attack in Tibet, only to die out in Nepal. It may possibly be the most extensive ethnographic work ever done on Tibetan shamanism.
