The Selkirk & Galashiels Railway

This is a brand-new title about the picturesque line that joined the Scottish Borders town of Selkirk to Galashiels. Like many such lines, it emerged from the aspirations of the town's notables to link into the railway network, increase connectivity, and facilitate the easier and more cost-effective movement of goods in and out. From the start (the line opened in 1856), the local company understood it would have to work with the mighty North British Railway, who worked the branch from opening. In the typical Oakwood A5 format, the book has been in preparation for many years and is an in-depth study comprising ten chapters that cover the early years until BR days, as well as separate chapters on Galashiels Station, People, and other topics. It also has six appendices.
