The Enchanted Tree

This is a retelling of an African folk tale about a magical tree, and the tortoise (or, in some accounts, a hare) who remembers its name. It is believed to originate with the Bantu people, though different versions of the story are told in places as far apart as Cameroon and Transvaal.
