The Dripping Tap Effect

In a Romanian orphanage, six-year old Elizabeth lies paralysed on the bed, her feet shackled to the railings, helplessly resigned to a life of neglect, abuse and loneliness. On the other side of the world, two Australian social workers are planning to rescue her, along with other abused children. The rescue succeeds, but the problems of some members of the team are just beginning. The children are brought to safety, but Elizabeth remains dreadfully traumatised. Clinical psychiatrist Annette Coulter manages to form a relationship with her, but her increasing involvement with the child begins to awaken nightmares - until she realises she has stumbled on a terrible truth about the girl and her own relationship with her.
