The Care of Strangers

Sima is a Polish Jewish immigrant working as an orderly in a public hospital in Brooklyn in 1982. She is one course shy of graduating medical school. Mindy is a privileged psychiatry intern struggling with the work and facing dismissal. Over a year of nightshifts, the two women form a close friendship. One day Sima steps up and covers for a grief-stricken Mindy, placing both their friendship and futures in jeopardy. A moving story of vulnerability and friendship, as two women fight to hold onto the places they've carved for themselves when the odds are stacked against them.
