Santa Barbara's Royal Presidio

The city of Santa Barbara in California boasts several historical properties but one of the lesser known ones is the Presidio. This is the story of its construction between 1784 and 1790 when it helped secure the Spanish settlement of Alta or Upper California as the mixed race soldiers and their families became the first Spanish settlers of the region.
