Old Partick

To avoid duplication with other Stenlake books, this one does not cover the old police burgh of Partick, which ranged as far as Whiteinch and Broomhill, and instead is bounded by the railway bridge over Dumbarton Road in the west and Highburgh Road. Essentially, the book includes the old village of Partick and the surrounding area, plus Overnewton, which is adjacent to but not part of Partick! Confused? Don't be! The front cover image is Castlebank Street, typical of the old village and long gone. More familiar are Dumbarton Road, Peel Street, Merkland Street, Gardner Street, and Hyndland Street. Lost are the old Kelvin Hall, Scotstoun Mill, the Regent's Mill, Yorkhill House and Partick Central Station.
