This book essentially covers the Upper Tweed Valley, the area south of the Lanarkshire town of Biggar. Off the beaten track best describes this little known but historically interesting part of west central Scotland and it is rarely published about. Ann Matheson, leading light at Biggar Museum and author of several existing local history and Scots language books, has written a detailed and first-rate text to accompany the images which show a surprising amount of change compared to the present day.
