Old Blair Atholl, Killiecrankie and Struan

Blair Atholl is next to the A9 road, which links Perth to Inverness and is the main conduit to the Scottish Highlands. This area is most famous for the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689, but the town of Blair Atholl itself did not spring up until the 1820s. Featuring 50 old photographs, this book captures the communities listed in the title in their Edwardian heyday when steam trains would stop on the Killiecrankie Viaduct to wander along the railway line and enjoy the view and when holidaymakers would stand on the Wishing Stone hoping to make their dreams come true. The subjects featured include the long-gone Killiecrankie Station, the much-missed Bridge of Tilt Hotel, Blair Castle, the local Atholl Highlander and Scottish Horse Regiments, shops, hotels, and more.
