After the death of her deputy husband Johnny, Sunny Morgan throws herself into volunteer work as a member of the Desert Sheriff's Posse Mounted Search and Rescue. When she stumbles across the mutilated body of a missing young girl during a training exercise in the California desert, Sunny finds herself deeply entangled with a malevolent shaman's powers, cryptic and mysterious local Indian legends, and thrown into the dark and dangerous world of a vicious serial killer bent on murder and deceit.
