Midland Main Line

Spanning a distance of 99 miles, the southern half of the Midland Main Line from London St Pancras to Leicester has a long history, the first section opening in 1857. It has seen much change over the years with resignalling occurring in the 1970s and 80s. Together with the 1990s, this is the period covered by this latest addition to the Classic Diesel Years series. Included are St Albans City, Cricklewood, and Wellingborough Stations, Stewartby Brickworks, the Luton aggregates terminal for Tarmac, Luton Crescent Road freight terminal, Wigston South Junction, Glendon South Junction, Finedon Road Sidings, and many other diverse subjects.
