Mexborough & Swinton

This company mainly worked a 6-mile square box north of Rotherham, including Rawmarsh, Swinton, Mexborough and Conisbrough. This area was diverse, with open green fields, industrial and colliery sites, and a massive steelworks. The M & S (no, not your M&S) buses served and connected this densely populated area with a wide variation of bus headways, making for interesting bus history. This book concentrates on the M & S motor buses and coaches but also deals with trolleybuses from 1954 to 1969 when they were transferred to Yorkshire Traction. Tables of the motor bus and trolleybus routes in this period are given, as well as a section entitled "The Fleet in Pictures". All the illustrations are captioned in detail.
