Governing Migration and Mobility

As the world faces unprecedented levels of displacement with over 100 million people forced to flee conflict, economic instability and climate crises, responses to migration have become increasingly complex. This book examines the military-humanitarian strategies used to manage the movement of people on the move, focusing on the migration of Venezuelans to northern Brazil. By developing the concept of 'debilitating mobilities,' the book explores mobility governance through border security, urban control and shelter provision. Shedding light on the intersecting logics of aid, security and vulnerability, this book reveals the multiscalar governance of migration in precarious environments.
