Girls

GIRLS explores the beauty and complexity of girlhood and the emotional journey to adulthood. How is 'being a girl' portrayed? How is it remembered? And how does 'the girl' influence visual culture and fashion? Central themes are daughters, sisters, and friendship, along with experiences of boredom, rebellion, and growing up. Featuring work by various artists from different fields, including Veronique Branquinho, Louise Bourgeois, Sofia Coppola, Jenny Fax, Roni Horn, Jas Knight, Alice Neel, Meret Oppenheim, Frida Orupabo, and Simone Rocha. Text contributions by Elisa De Wyngaert (curator at MoMu Antwerp), Claire Marie Healy, Wim Mertens (curator at MoMu Antwerp), Morna Laing, Alex Quicho and others.
