Along the Old A91

In the guise of the A91 since the 1920s, when British roads were classified and numbered, this road, which in 40 miles crosses four counties, started life as a turnpike in the 1790s. Between the old town and port of Stirling, with its famous castle and Royal connections to the douce ancient university town of St. Andrews, are many towns and villages. In this book, through a series of old photographs of the route and informative captions, the author tells the stories of these settlements and the road. From Stirling Bridge, we travel through Causewayhead, Blairlogie, Menstrie, Alva, Tillicoultry, Dollar, Pool of Muckhart, Carnbo, Milnathort, Gateside, Strathmiglo, Auchtermuchty, Bow of Fif, Cupar, Dairsie, and Guardbridge before reaching St. Andrews.
