Our featured author for this month is Edna Obrien. Admired for her lyrical and sensuous prose, she has charted the many twists and turns of Irish life. Her first book, The Country Girls, published in 1960 was written in three weeks and scandalised the nation. It was subsequently banned in Ireland as were several of her subsequent novels.
