Dubray Review

What Henry wants more than a cowboy costume or a trip to the moon, more than anything in the world, is a dog. And so he places an ad in the newspaper for The Perfect Pet. A lonely little duck spots the ad and begins to dream about how wonderful it would be to have such a friend. He disguises himself as a dog and arrives at Henry's house. Unfortunately, Duck doesn't have the same skills as a dog and his disguise soon falls away. Henry is disappointed but then he thinks about all the things that Duck can do and realises that he has found his perfect pet.

However, disaster strikes when Henry is given The Perfect Present: a dog. Feeling left out, Duck sets off back to his Egg House. As soon as Henry realises that Duck is missing, he recruits his new dog to help find him and what ensues is a heartfelt tale of friendship. There is always room for friends, both old and new.

Rarely do you find two books that complement each other so well. The illustrations are simple and yet they express so much humour and emotion that with every read you'll find yourself loving them even more.

- Ruth Donnelly, Dun Laoghaire

Not everyone has to go to the pet shop to find their perfect pet...Once upon a time, there lived a boy called Henry. What Henry wanted more than anything in the whole wide world...MORE than chips...MORE than a cowboy costume...MORE than an all-expenses-paid trip to the moon...was a DOG. A lovable tale of adventure and friendship...and the lengths some will go to find it. A great book to springboard early childhood lessons and imaginative play on pets.
